Gallery: Chili Cook-off

The senior class Student Council hosted their annual chili cook-off, raising around $320 for the Johnson County Christmas Bureau on Wednesday, Nov. 15. There were six teams who were all competing for the title of 2023 Chili Cook-off Champions. Seniors Max Kuhlman, Ryder Hendon, Ryan Dehan and Collin Ford came in third place receiving bronze medals. Second place was awarded to seniors Ashley Zastrow, Lauren McGuire, Claire Schudy, Veronica Mangine, Abigail Long and Ava Weiland and were awarded with a silver ladle. Taking home the title of the 2023 SME Chili Cook-off Champions were seniors Marin McElhinney, Ella Howard, Maggie Leonard, Nora Friskel and Autumn Sun.

Saving the best for last, senior Paige Bean is entering her final year on staff as the Head Print Photo Editor. Paige has been on staff since her freshman year and taking photos since she was born, thanks to her father. When she’s not in the journalism room, Paige is the Student Body President, a member of Kemper Teen Arts Council, President of the Just Like You Films Youth Advisory Board, and more. Paige hopes to study filmmaking next year and continue creating media. »

Junior Maggie Condon is thrilled to start her third year on staff. This year Maggie will be both a Staff Photographer and Staff Writer. In her time spent outside of Harbinger deadlines you could find her on the tennis court or lacrosse field. Besides that she is excited for her third year on Student Council as the Junior class president and hopes to spend as much time as possible with family and friends. »
