Boys’ soccer defeated the Olathe Northwest Ravens three to zero in quarterfinals last night. On Friday, they will play in the semifinals against Dodge City in Wichita. If they win that game, they will play in state.

The game remained tied at zero to zero for the majority of the first half. It was only after senior Clayton Phillips broke away to score the first goal with two minutes left in the first half that the floodgates opened for the Lancers.

“The most exciting part of the game [was] Clayton’s first goal, because that was a huge relief,” senior Grayson Rapp said. ”Once we got that first goal, it [was] easy to just lock down defense and keep them from scoring.”

Phillips scored once more in the second half, putting the game at two and zero. When senior Oliver Bihuniak scored off a header nearing the end of the second half, the game was clinched.

“[The win] just got us more pumped for state,” Rapp said. “Our speed of play, everything is just clicking right now, and it’s the right time to click.”
