The SM East varsity boys soccer team beat Blue Valley High School Tuesday in a penalty shootout after the regulation time score came to a tie of 2-2. The boys were down 0-2 late in the first half until sophomore Caden Nicholson scored East’s first goal of the night. About halfway into the second half senior Cooper Holmes tied the game up off a loose ball from the BVHS keeper after a challenge from senior Carson Jones. When regulation time was up and the game was still tied, the teams went straight into a penalty kick shootout. The shootout lineup for East went seniors Eren Eksinar and Cooper Holmes, sophomore Caden Nicholson, junior Jodar Marcial, seniors Conor O’Toole and Charley Colby. With two saves from sophomore goalkeeper Will Lowry, the Lancers came out on top.
