After about a three week delay due to record high heatwaves canceling all outdoor after-school activities, practices and games, varsity Boys Soccer kicked off their season defeating Wyandotte in the first round of the KAMO Tournament. At the end of the first half the Lancers were leading the game 5-1. The team continued to hold the lead into the second half, defeating Wyandotte 7-2. Team caption senior Wesley Cribb was ecstatic and very proud of his team and how they played saying, “There’s no better feeling then a W on our first game of the year, but the job’s not finished we still have a tournament to win.” Goals were made by senior Connor Neusel (2), senior Beck Rettenmaier, junior George Hartman (2), junior Lars Alsin and junior Ben Perkins. Neusel, Rettenmaier and Perkins also had one assist each. The team’s record now sits at 1-0-0.
Varsity moves on to the semi-finals of the KAMO tournament and will play Blue Valley West on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 4:30 p.m. at SMAC.

Senior Amelie Wong is entering her third and final year on staff as Harbinger’s first ever head online photo editor. Though she is still trying to figure out all of the responsibilities for her new role, she is so excited to see what new challenges this year brings. When Amelie is not in the J-room you can probably find her at Target buying more Red Bull or Starbucks getting her third coffee of the day. »
