Gallery: Boys Varsity Soccer Defeats SM West 4-1

Defending their state championship, the Lancers opened the season with a 4-1 victory over SM West on Aug. 29, their first win over the Vikings in four years after a streak of ties and one loss. The first goal of the game was scored by senior Owen Andrews, with 21 minutes remaining in the first half. Five minutes later, senior Andrew Bennett scored the second goal of the game. Shortly after, senior Stephen Hlobik scored twice with two minutes remaining in the first half. At half-time, the Lancers led the Vikings 4-0. The Lancers defeated the Vikings 4-1, making their record 1-0.

The boys varsity soccer team will play next Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 12 p.m. against Blue Valley High School at Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.
