Gallery: Boys Varsity Soccer Defeats Mill Valley 3-0

The boys varsity soccer team took on the Mill Valley Jaguars on Nov. 4 in the KSHAA state quarterfinals. The Lancers took on the Jaguars in a rematch of their 2022 quarterfinals game that the Lancers lost 3-2 after 30 minutes of overtime and a penalty shootout. The Lancers were held scoreless in the first half after multiple chances and controlling most of the possession in the pouring rain. Half way through the first half, senior Lars Alsin returned to the field after obtaining a “Jones fracture” in his right foot from the Lancers’ first match of the season on Aug. 30, against SM West. The Lancers went into the second half without the pouring rain and a wet pitch. The second half scoring was opened by Senior Brady Neuman scoring off a rebounded shot from Junior Stephen Hlobik. One minute after Neuman’s goal, senior Ben Perkins found himself in open space at the top of the box scoring the Lancers’ second goal. The Lancers finished their scoring with a goal from senior Evan Gould being assisted by senior Ben Perkins. The night ended 3-0 with senior Lukas Lowry and the Lancers passing the school shutout record of 12 with 13.

The Lancers now move onto the semi-finals round of the KSHAA 6A boys soccer state tournament and host Washburn Rural High School on Nov. 6th at SMAC and will kick off at 6:00 p.m.
