The SM East boys varsity soccer team defeated the Lawrence Free State Firebirds 8-0 on Oct. 3. The game ended early since the Lancers mercy ruled the Firebirds 8-0. “I have really smart soccer players on this team,” head coach Jamie Kelly said. “They play the game at a very high level and they know how to break down opponents quickly to then negate what they are trying to do.” Lancers were up at halftime 5-0, and secured the win early in the second half.

The next boys varsity soccer game is on Oct. 8, at 7 p.m. at SMAC against Olathe South.
