With time running down, and the only goal of the game scored with one minute left on the clock, the boy’s varsity soccer team defeated Blue Valley 1-0, during their second game of the tournament. The boys struggled with getting the ball in the correct spot for goal opportunities, and every time someone would attempt to shoot, they would miss the goal just slightly. The Lancers kept the ball on Blue Valleys’ half of the field for the majority of the game. The only goal scored during the game was a penalty kick by senior captain Jack Lucas. Senior Jack Lucas elaborates on his penalty kick, “There was a lot of pressure but I didn’t really feel any. I was just focused on putting the ball into the back of the net. I just tried to zone everything out and make sure to put the ball in the corner. I had taken penalty kicks that had way more pressure so I was confident I was gonna score.”
The next soccer game will be Friday, Sep. 9 at 2:30 against Blue Valley Southwest at the Shawnee Mission Athletic Complex. This will be the third game of the tournament.
