Gallery: Boys Varsity Lacrosse Falls to Rockhurst 13-10

In the team’s hardest game of the season, the boys’ varsity lacrosse team lost to Rockhurst 13-10 on Thursday night. This was their first time playing against Rockhurst since they lost to them last year in the LAKC Championship. After senior Hoch Saylor scores the team’s first goal, the Lancers were down 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. At halftime, the Lancers were trailing Rockhurst 6-3. Starting off the second half, Rockhurst scored 4 goals in a row, increasing their lead. East recovers and narrows the lead, and the team was down by 4 in the fourth quarter. Each team continued to score, but the Lancers were unable to take the lead and were defeated 13-10. The team’s record is now 3-1 in league play.

Although the Rockhurst vs. East game is the ultimate rivalry between both teams, the game is also the second annual Connelly Classic to honor former defensive coordinator coach, “Doc” Connelly, who coached at both schools. To further “Doc’s” tribute, both East and Rockhurst have a friendly Chick-Fil-A contest the week of the game, to see who can raise the most money which goes towards the CASA Organization. A check with the amount of money raised and the winner of the contest is presented during halftime, to “Doc’s” close family friends. The total amount raised was $2,588.

The Lancers’ next game is on Thursday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be played against Lee Summit West at LSW Field.
