The SM East Lancers lost the opening tip-off against the Olathe North Eagles, with the Eagles gaining a lead seven points within the first quarter, to make the score 13-6 Throughout the second quarter, the Lancers kept up with the speed of the game but eventually fell behind the Eagles 28 to 17
During halftime Sweetheart Court was announced naming 10 seniors: Morgan Beedle, Georgia Boyd, Kai Campbell, Ava Carroll, Elliot Cowden, Chander Desai, Michael English, Charlie Hoskins, Macy Fore, and Maggie McCarthy. Ava Carroll and Michael English were crowned Sweetheart Queen and King.
The Lancers were behind 17-30, three minutes left in the third quarter. Throughout the rest of the game the Lancers continued to trail behind and ended the game 52-37 with seniors Stephen Hlobik and Paxton Ochs being the top scorers in the game.
The next boys' varsity game will take place at Shawnee Mission East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb 10.
