Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Falls to Olathe East 45-42

SM East came out strong with senior Stephen Hlobik having six points in the first 10 minutes giving the Lancers a 10-6 lead and setting the tone going into the second quarter. Going into halftime, the Lancers were tied 20-20 with senior Paxton Ochs having two three-pointers. At halftime, the Lancer cheer squad had senior night. 

During halftime, 11 seniors walked across the gym floor for cheer senior night. Cate Conrad, Millie Craven, Mirabelle Heinen, Abby Jackson, LJ Morrissey, Lydia Parisi, Isabella Penke, Ava Perez, Andi Prendiville, Emma Price and Nithmi Walpitage all crossed the floors with their families as younger members of varsity gave them their flowers. 

Coming out of halftime the Lancers were on fire, scoring 11 points in the third quarter giving them momentum going into the fourth quarter. With 2 minutes left in the game senior Stephen Hlobik received the ball on an in-bounds play extending the lead to 39-43 Olathe East. with only 57 seconds left in the game senior Stephen Hlobik passes the ball to senior Vince Kopp hitting a deep three that goes in and makes it a 1 point game. On the last play of the game with 5 seconds left the Lancers passed the ball to senior Vince Kopp who bobbled it and couldn't get a shot off with the game ending in a 42-45 loss for the Lancers.
