Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Falls to Lawrence Free State 53-40

The boys varsity basketball team prepared to play their last home game against Lawrence Free State on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The senior night ceremony took place in between the girls and boys varsity games and honored all of the senior boys on the team. There were seven seniors, Stephen Hlobik, Vince Kopp, Pearson Konold, Hudson Lucas, Trey Pendleton and Quentin and Paxton Ochs. After the players were recognized at center court with their families, the game began.

Kopp scored seven of the nine points in the first quarter and the Lancers led by one point going into the second quarter. The Firebirds came back strong, scoring 15 points in the second quarter and holding the Lancers to just nine. In the second half, the Firebirds kept the lead and forced the Lancers into a full court-press. After breaking the press multiple times, the Lancers went back to half court defense but it was not enough to defeat the Firebirds. The final score was 53-40. Hlobik was the leading scorer with 12 points, followed by Kopp with nine and Quentin Ochs with eight

The Lancers will play their next game against SM West at SM West on Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 P.M.
