After senior Quentin Ochs won the tip off, he passed to senior Stephen Hlobik, for a fast-break drive, but was blocked by a Raytown defender. Raytown South got the ball and scored the first two points of the game. On the very next possession, junior point guard Brooks Dillon took the ball down and passed it onto senior Quentin Ochs for Sm East’s first score of the game. The score remained within two points for the first quarter with an end score of 11-9. The Lancers kept the lead during the second half. The lead was stretched by six points with a 27-21 final score in halftime. The third quarter ended with the Lancers up by 12 and the score was 47-35. The Lancers defeated Raytown with a 65-52 final score. Senior Vince Kopp was the leading scorer in the game with 18 points.
This was SM East’s first game played in their annual Championship Showdown, and will face Blue Valley Northwest on Thurs, Dec. 11 at SM East.
