Gallery: Boys Varsity Basketball Defeats Gardener Edgerton 66-56

Seniors Quentin Ochs and Stephen Hlobik combined for 41 points against the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Ochs led the team by scoring 23 points, and Hlobik scored the other 18 points, The Lancers winning 66-56. The Lancers ended the first quarter up 10-2 on the Trailblazers, who matched the Lancers in scoring the next quarter, with both teams at 16 points. Junior Brooks Dillion scored two three-point shots in the second quarter, tying Ochs with six points in that quarter. The Lancers went into the half leading 26-18. Ochs led the Lancers again in the third quarter, scoring another six points to keep the Lancers in the lead with a late third-quarter and one-play after driving to the basket. The Lancers ended the third quarter in the lead 44-30. The Trailblazers pressed the Lancers for the entire fourth quarter, attempting to catch up. The Lancers kept their lead by 10 points after the Trailblazers would foul the Lancers allowing the Lancers to make 12 free throws in the fourth quarter, where Ochs scored seven points and Hlobik six points in the fourth quarter. The game ended as senior Paxton Ochs threw an inbounds pass over the shoulder of senior Vince Kopp into the Lancers’ attacking half of the court, where Kopp dribbled out the rest of the clock.

The Lancers will play their next game against Olathe North High School on Feb. 6 at SM East at 7 p.m.
