The Lancer boys’ soccer team won on senior night, 3-0 over the Olathe Northwest Ravens. East started the majority of their seniors against the Ravens in honor of senior night.
The Lancers went up early in the first half. Junior Ari Throckmorton got the ball around 40 yards out and shot past the diving keeper into the bottom right corner of the net. Later in the half, senior Noah Eidemiller rebounded the ball off of a save. He spun around, settling the ball, and took a right footed shot into the center of the goal. It went right over the keeper, who was still sprawled out on the ground from his save moments before.
With a few minutes left in the half, Throckmorton took an elbow to the eye. He sat for the rest of the half. The buzzer sounded and East went to the sidelines up 2-0 over the Ravens.
Early in the second half, Eidemiller got the ball at the top of the box. While being shoved by a defender, he was able to hold his ground, settle the ball and put it away under the keeper for his second goal of the night. East went up 3-0.
The rest of the half, East focused primarily on defense. In the last minute, the Ravens made a go at the goal, rushing Junior Michael Moedritzer. Moedritzer came out of the goal as the Ravens’ attacker shot over his head. He slid and knocked the ball out of the air, maintaining East’s shut out for the rest of the game.
This was East’s regular season game of the year. The Lancers end the season on a six game winning streak, putting them at 11-4-1 on the season. Their next game will be the beginning of the regionals tournament on Oct. 29 at the SM Soccer Complex.
