Gallery: Boys JV Soccer Defeats Turner High School 10-0

Boys JV soccer take down Turner High School 10-0 Monday evening. The game took place at the SME soccer field at 5 p.m. After the first 10 minutes, East was already ahead 3-0. Goals were scored by sophomores Lars Alsin and Cooper Brende, along with junior Ben Hembree. At half the boys were up 6-0, goals being scored by junior Nicholas Lindmark, sophomore Ben Perkins and freshman Stephen Hlobik. With only four goals away from the 10 needed to call mercy, sophomores JJ Paben and Calvin Duske, and junior Alex Tiedt scored, bringing the score up 9-0. Junior Mason Hedrick scored the 10th and final goal of the game putting the mercy rule into effect halfway through the second half.

The team is scheduled to play their next game against Olathe NW on Thursday, Sep. 22 at 5 p.m. at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.

Some other things Lydia is a part of are SHARE, DECA, National Honors Society, National Charity League and one of the new managers of East’s coffee shop, Columbia Brew. In her free time, you would catch her nannying, hanging out with friends, listening to music, going on walks or hosting at the South Plaza Mission Taco Joint. Lydia is very excited to see what this new semester holds. »

Senior Julia Fillmore could not be more excited to start her second year on staff as a photo mentor. She is thrilled to jump right back into deadlines, hanging out in the J-room and just getting to go out and shoot. Along with Harbinger, Julia is also involved in tennis, swim, student store, DECA, Link Crew and SHARE. If she’s not doing one of those things, you can probably find her hanging out with friends, driving around, or in a Powerlife class. She can’t wait to see what the year brings! »
