The SM East Lancers went up against Olathe East on Feb. 9 at 7 p.m., to start off the game, the Olathe East Hawks scored a layup. The Lancers quickly responded with a layup from freshman Ethan Zickefoose. Through the first quarter, the Lancers and the Hawks fought over possession. At the end of the first quarter, the Lancers were down 17-8. Starting off the second quarter, freshman Harper Harris swished a three pointer. With three minutes on the clock, freshman Ben Stocks got fouled by one of the Hawks. Going into halftime, the Lancers were down 24-23.
The second half of the game started with freshman RJ Galyean shooting from the top left corner of the paint. Throughout the quarter, the Lancers and the Hawks continued to score. Finishing the third quarter, the Lancers were down 41-30. Starting the fourth quarter, the Hawks fired a shot at the basket and made it. Throughout the quarter, it was close but the Lancers persevered and ended the game with the Lancers winning 55-45. The top scorers from the Lancers are freshman Stocks, Harris, and Simon Steinbacher. The next boys freshman A basketball game is Feb. 19 at Shawnee Mission East at 5:30 p.m.
