The Lancers suffered a loss at home for the first time this season against the Olathe North Eagles. The game was also the first time head coach Jeff Walton has defeated East in his nine year career as head coach.
Both teams held 10-3 records going into the game. The game’s momentum swung with frequent lead changes.
Just before half, Gunnar Englund made two free throws to tie the game at 16. East managed a four point lead at one time in the third quarter. Momentum continued to change when a dunk by Lucas Jones was answered by Sophomore RJ Smith with a fast break for the Eagles. Jones scored 12 in the third.
North pulled away in the fourth for a final score of 51-40. Lucas Jones led the Lancers with half the team’s points. Julian Winton put up 17 for the Eagles.
