Game 1 vs. Wichita West Pioneers

In the quarterfinals the Lancers moved past the Wichita West Pioneers with an 11-1 win through six. Senior Henry Churchill would end the game with an inside-the-park home run. Zeb Vermillion, a junior, allowed only one run in five innings of work with the help of a solid performance from his defense.

Game 2 vs. Washburn Rural Junior Blues

Senior Joey Wentz pitched a shutout and hit a walk-off home run against Washburn Rural defeating them 11-0. Wentz didn’t a allow a single run through 51.1 innings pitched through the season. The Lancers moved on the championship where they’d face the Lawrence Free State Firebirds.

Game 3 vs. Lawrence Free State Firedbirds

Narrowly holding off a steamrolling Firebird offense , the Shawnee Mission East Lancers returned to Prairie Village with their third baseball state championship since 1995. The Lancers beat the Firebirds in extra innings in the ninth, 4-3 with junior Trevor Thompson’s game winning RBI that scored freshman Phillip Cole from second base.
