On Wednesday, January 10, 2018, Mrs. Valencia’s AP Environmental Science class of juniors and seniors went on a field trip to visit the Myron K. Nelson Sewage Treatment Plant maintained and operated by Johnson county. While there, the students learned about the processes of the plant, why the plant is necessary, and about the various water sources and watersheds that the plant protects and draws from. After this presentation, the students were led on a tour by Doyle Webster, a site manager. On this tour, they were shown various areas of the plant, and the facilities that treat sewage.
