Finally Here: Grand Theft Auto VI trailer released

Rockstar Games finally released the Grand Theft Auto VI video game trailer on YouTube after 10 years of waiting and has set the release for 2025.

Fans have been robbing gas stations, blowing up cars and killing strippers for the better part of 10 years all while joking about whether or not the next sequel will come out within their lifetime. GTA V was released in 2013 and is still one of the most popular online games on the market, with an active fanbase of 96,355 active players, according to player statistics.

The new game will take place in the fictional Vice City which is supposed to be a satirical depiction of Miami, Florida through its portrayal of alligator fights, mud-wrestling and people frolicking on top of moving cars.

For the plot, Rockstar has left the main characters of the previous game, Michael, Trevor and Franklin, in GTA V, so players will get an entirely new cast of characters, starting with Lucia whose character was revealed in the trailer.

Coming off of one of the biggest video games of the decade, Rockstar’s fans will be disappointed if the new game is anything less than perfect.

The gaming community views GTA VI as the pinnacle of gaming. Many comments on the trailer were fans describing how it gave them goosebumps with the top comment reading “A minute of silence in honor of all loyal fans who didn’t live to see this legendary moment.”

From the trailer, the map is huge. It will be three times as big as the older, 50 square kilometer map and I don’t think it will be good for players. Some people are in support of the new map claiming that it will offer more possibilities for playable missions and a greater range of content, but a map that big is just too big.

The true fun of GTA is the whole 30 player lobby being in the city and trying to kill each other with jets and flying motorcycles. That’s the main thing you lose from the larger map — the action will be too spread out and players will get bored traveling from the multiple cities compared to the single city of the previous game.

Along with the map size, you also have next generation graphics, but with good graphics comes lag. Unless you have a PS5, Xbox One X or a highly equipped computer, then you’ll have to go to a friend’s house to play.

I’m crossing my fingers that everything goes well on release day, and we avoid another Cyberpunk 2077 disaster, but I’m happy that we even got a release confirmation after waiting so long.
