How did you first get started playing football?
I played soccer until 8th grade with guys a year older because of my birthday. That fall when everyone I had been playing with was in high school, I decided to just play football. After that, I just stuck with it.
What is your favorite memory from playing football at East so far?
Lancer Day this year was awesome. The whole day was just so fun, especially Alec Dean’s game winning Hail Mary touchdown.
Do you have a pregame ritual?
Well, I used to drink 5 hour energy until I threw up in the Lawrence game after I drank one. I try to keep everything the same, or at least as consistent as possible. I am really superstitious. I feel like if I do something different, it will mess the game up.
How do you pump up the team as captain?
I’m not too much of a rah-rah, crazy guy so I lead the team through my actions.
How do you bond with the team?
We love to mess with each other, especially [Sam] Huffman. We always send his girlfriend pictures of him at team dinners.
