The five school days before an East dance can only mean one thing for Lancers- the opportunity to break out wacky, patriotic and sporty outfits in honor of Spirit Week. STUCO is in charge of the themes for the Homecoming Spirit Week, and Pep Club will decide the Sweetheart Spirit Week themes. This year’s themes, along with costuming advice from STUCO president A.J. Orth, are as follows:
Monday: America
Lancers will start out the week by showing their American pride. “Bring out your best patriotic wear,” Orth says. “Any red, white and blue combination is perfect.”
Tuesday: Twin Day
Warning to teachers and students: you might be seeing double on Tuesday. “Pair up with a friend and dress the same for a day,” Orth says. “The more you look like your friend, the better.”
Wednesday: Things That Used To Be Cool
On Wednesday, Lancers will need to search through their closets for relics from old fads. “Pull out your scrunchies, baller bands, silly bands, Crocs…” Orth says. “Any golden, classic articles of clothing.”
Thursday: Jersey Day
The inner Kobe, Wambach and Tebow in every Lancer can come out on Thursday. “Thursday is Jers’ Day!” Orth says. “Wear any jersey, from college sports to professional.”
Friday: Lancer Day
Lancer Pride reigns on the final day of Spirit Week. STUCO wants to see every student and teacher in the building covered in Lancer spirit wear. “Come decked out in all your favorite Lancer gear,” Orth advises. “Friday is the day for your Columbia blue, black and white.”
