When new teacher Randi Williams came in for her interview for the math teacher opening for Geometry and Algebra 1, she never thought she would get even more out of it. Right after her interview to be the new math teacher she was interviewed to become the coach for the girl’s sophomore volleyball team.
Williams got the news that she had been hired for both jobs at East and was excited to start considering she grew up in the area. She went to school in the Blue Valley District and also went to college around the area.
Starting her career at Bradley University, Williams transferred to Rockhurst University, and eventually ending at KU just this past May earning a degree in Math.
“After two years of majoring in math I knew I wanted to teach it.” Williams said.
As a high school student, Williams had a propensity for math, leading her to choose it as her major when the time came.
The fact that Williams played volleyball at both Bradley and Rockhurst may have helped her get the job as the sophomore coach this year, but don’t worry Lancers, she is a strong KU fan particularly KU basketball.
Because she is comfortable with the area and is loving what she is doing here so far, Williams hopes to continue teaching and coaching at East for as long as she can and become a true Lancer.
