“It’s been very bitter the past two years,” senior Will Short said. “It’s going to be a packed stadium and it’s going to be awesome to see who comes out on top.”
Though the Lancers are poised and motivated by those losses, they are focused on this year’s team. Star senior quarterback Jordan Darling has passed for 601 yards and five touchdowns
will be looking to break through Olathe South’s secondary by connecting with senior Connor Rellihan who has 305 yards and four touchdowns on the season. Look for Darling to also find favorite targets senior David Sosna and junior Christian Blessen.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Lancers will have to stop Russell White, who has 381 yards and five touchdowns. Senior linebackers Patrick Blackburn, Sam Stewart and David Stewart need to come up big to stop Olathe South’s rhythm in the running game.
“[Olathe South] has a unique offensive, and are predicated on misdirection and big plays,” head coach Chip Sherman said. “They have very good size and speed, and they haven’t really showed many weaknesses yet.”
