After receiving ten nominations for The Drowsy Chaperone, the East Theatre Department secured three Blue Star Awards. The first was in the Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role Category. Although the award was meant for one actor, junior brothers Alec and Justin Armer received the award to share. The brothers received their award for their roles as Gangster #1 and Gangster #2.
Sophomore Abby Cramer was the second Lancer to win an award. She received the Outstanding Actress in a Featured Role award for her performance as the Drowsy Chaperone, which the musical is named for.
Finally, senior Lily Kaufmann rounded out her career in the East Theatre Department by winning the award for Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role. Kaufmann played the role of Janet van der Graaf and performed part of her main song, “I Don’t Wanna Show Off,” at the awards ceremony.
The cast performed “Toledo’s Surprise” at the awards show. The Drowsy Chaperone was nominated for 10 awards, including Best Show. View their performance here:
