BREAKING: SME Choir’s Europe trip canceled due to risk of coronavirus spread

The East Choir trip to Europe was canceled Tuesday morning after major coronavirus precautionary developments in some of the trip’s destinations.

The Czech Republic, which the trip was scheduled to spend three days in, shuttered schools over fears of viral spread, which factored into the decision. An eventual cancellation came after weeks of meetings and deliberation amongst parents and students who planned to go on the trip.

“[As of this point], the choir trip has been officially cancelled,” choir director Ken Foley wrote to students and parents in an email. “There were developments overnight (in Europe) that changed a lot of things about our trip. It pains me to do this, but it is the responsible thing to do.”

No plans to supplement the trip have been made at this point. Story is developing.
