As students prepare for Halloween-themed October events, Ms. McPhee’s sixth hour entrepreneurship class is preparing for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a charity basketball tournament.
“Basically, just a bunch of kids in our class wanted to start a project,” junior Mike Bamford said, one of the students taking part in hosting this event. “We’re supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.”
The tournament will take place Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the East gyms. Teams can include three to five players with a $20 entry fee per team. The games will be three-on-three and the winner of the tournament gets a grand prize.
Sign-up forms can be found taped or stapled to the walls in the school hallway. Look for the white, blue or pink papers around the school. To sign up, fill out the form and return it to room 503 by Oct. 15.
“We’re just trying to get everybody out there, supporting the cause,” Bamford said. “It is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so if everybody could show up wearing pink and their breast cancer and Lancer stuff, that would be awesome.”
