Bundle of Boutiques — A Review of Array

With a need to find a WPA dress, I grabbed my keys and bundled up in a huge blue puffer coat to bare the -15 F windchill. After a little scare from sliding on the icy, narrow roads of the Plaza, I finally pulled in right next to the snow covered Array store. My pink-favoring eyes were instantly captivated by the streamer-lined windows.

Array — a sister store to the well-known boutique Fortuity — is separated by sections. There are 11 different boutiques in the store which means there’s a wide variety. Red sweaters with white stars. Furry vests. KC T-shirts. Furry keychains. Knitted beanies. They had it all.

Across the floor I loved all the clothes I saw — lowkey wish it was my closet. I went about it orderly, boutique by boutique, being sure to run my hand against the incredibly soft faux-fur coats and pull out my favorite pieces to try on later.

I really liked the boutique called Amelia’s — which has its own store in Overland Park. 3&Me also caught my eye because of all the furry jackets. I made a mental reminder to visit their storefront in downtown KC next time I go shopping.

Earlier in the week I spent multiple hours dragging my snow-boot-covered feet through the mall in an attempt to find the perfect WPA dress. No luck. I found myself saying, “Meh I don’t love it” in every single dressing room. But when I made my way to the back of Array, I saw a plum colored dress on display and my eyebrow raised because I loved its look.

Once I finished looking around, I headed to the dressing room in the back. After ten years — okay, more like two minutes — of taking my coat layers off, I pulled on the dress and my lips curled into a smile because I finally found what I’ll be wearing for a total of about two hours at dinner and the dance next weekend. (Bonus points: my mom was proud of me for finding a dress that was well under $100.)

All in all, I’d say Array will definitely be on my list for future shoppings days. And if you’re still looking for a WPA dress — or just a cute sweater or t-shirt — I would highly recommend.
