Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced this morning that Spider-Man will remain a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) following an agreement reached by both Marvel and Disney.

This comes after the announcement on Aug. 21 that the two parties couldn’t reach an agreement oh how movie profits would be split. When Disney asked to change their contract to a 50:50 profit cut instead of a 90:10 profit cut for solo movies, Sony refused, leading Disney to pull Spider-Man out of the MCU.

According to an article on Vox, Feige announced that they will be producing an upcoming third Spider-Man film which will be in theaters on July 16 of 2021.

According to senior Jane Sonnichsen, even though she couldn’t believe it at first, she is relieved that they are going to wrap up Spider-Man’s plotline and not leave his story on a cliffhanger.

“At first, I thought that it was just a publicity stunt when they said [Spider-Man] was leaving,” said Sonnichsen. “So I’m glad that it’s true and I’m really glad Spidey is back.”
