Breaking News: Scholarship Shawnee Mission held their annual college fair yesterday afternoon

Scholarship Shawnee Mission held their annual college fair on Monday Oct. 10 in the Main Gym, with 49 colleges awarding the senior class a combined total of $789,440,944 — over $218 million more than last year’s sum.

Seniors got passes to go down to the fair during their sixth and seventh hours to browse participating schools and ask the representatives questions. Each student received a form outlining the total amount of scholarship money that they were awarded and the money was divided amongst participating colleges.

33 schools of the 49 total colleges who participated were present at the fair.

Edward Marquez, father of East alum Isabella Marquez and Program Officer for Scholarship Shawnee Mission, founded the program seven years ago.

“[This year’s fair] is going really well,” Marquez said. “I was really pleased with the way the East students came in and walked around and visited a number of schools and took advantage of the opportunity.”
