Rockhurst High School has won the annual Coaches vs. Cancer Chick-fil-A Challenge, a competition between Rockhurst High School and East to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

This past week, the Chick-fil-A on Ward Parkway has been tallying the amount spent at Chick-fil-A from Rockhurst or Shawnee Mission East. The challenge ended this afternoon at 4 p.m. and the winner was announced after the third quarter of the East vs. Rockhurst varsity basketball game.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society will receive 20% of the money spent at the Ward Parkway Chick-fil-A from Rockhurst and East combined in Rockhurst High School’s name.

“I think it’s a great way to get the community involved. East alums or teachers can all feel like they’re contributing to something to quote, ‘Beat Rock,’” Pep Club Executive and senior Maggie Condon said. “And obviously it goes to a great cause, so it’s a good way to kind of use the East and Rockhurst competition to make it go to something for the greater good.”
