Breaking News: Kansas Midterm Elections Results

Yesterday, voters across the country showed up at polling stations to cast their ballots and decide who will represent them in local and national offices. According to CNN, the results in Kansas were being decided by very close margins.

Here is the breakdown of the results:

Governor: Incumbent Laura Kelly wins reelection over republican challenger and former Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

Congress: Four congressional seats were up for election, with Republicans maintaining a 3-1 majority of the state’s seats. Incumbent Democrat Sharice Davids defeated Republican Amanda Adkins for the third district, in which Johnson County presides. The two had previously faced each other in 2020 in which Davids won. Since then, congressional lines had been redrawn, including more rural and historically Republican areas. Despite this, Davids won and will now serve her third term as a Kansas congresswoman.

Attorney General: Republican Kris Kobach, who had lost his bid to represent the party and for both governor and senate in the last four years, defeated democrat Chris Mann. Kobach will be serving his first term in the position.
