The Junior Board groups gave their final presentations on April 1 in the SMEast office conference room.
Each team has spent the school year creating their presentations, and researching all aspects of their chosen organization, making sure they researched all the different areas in the group. The Kanbe’s Markets team won first place, earning a $2,500 grant for their organization. The KC Hospice group won $2,000 coming in second place and Upper Room KC won $1,500 coming in third place
Junior Board is an organization where you pick a team of 3-5 people and research a non-profit organization to raise money for. The leaders of the junior board are the share chairs and Erin Billingsly. One of the members from Upper Room KC Junior, Fina Kessler, just joined this year since 7th grade.
“I got into the Junior Board by doing it in seventh grade and really enjoying it,” said Kessler. “But I hadn’t really thought about it until this year when I heard it from my friend and was interested in doing it so we got a group together and did this year.”
