Breaking News: Girls Soccer Loses to OS With Last Second Goal

The girl’s varsity soccer team fell to Olathe South Tuesday night 2-1 after a goal was scored with three seconds left on the clock.

The game was played at the Olathe Athletic Complex with kickoff starting at 7:00. No goals were scored in the first half by either teams, but Olathe South put one in the back of the net early in the second half, putting East down 1-0. The Lancers came back late in the game to tie 1-1, with a breakaway goal by Josie Clough.

As the final seconds ran on the clock Olathe South led a final attack and scored with three seconds left in the game. Unable to comeback in such little time, East lost the game.

“We played a well rounded game,” varsity goalkeeper Sydney Daris said. “But at the end of the game we made a couple mistakes, and [Olathe] capitalized on them and scored.”

The Lancers will take on Olathe Northwest on Thursday at the Shawnee Mission Athletic Center. They are 2-5-0 this season.
