I’ve always tried to set myself up for success by improving my mindfulness. From 30-day yoga challenges to attempting meditation through YouTube videos, nothing seemed to stick.
I would start out great. I’d get through 10 days of my yoga challenge before getting distracted with annotating books for English class or studying for Chemistry. I still enjoyed things like writing daily affirmations for myself every morning and of course, doing the occasional tree pose, but I knew I needed to add that extra aspect of mindfulness and motivation into my life.
So meditation wasn’t my thing, big whoop. But as I talked with friends about my growing desire for mindfulness, crystals always came up as a good option.I asked around for the best crystal recommendations around KC, good starter crystals and how to carry them around for day-to-day use.
With my newfound knowledge, I hopped into my car and headed to Aquarius — a crystal store in Westport. I piled my basket with rose quartz, emerald and lepidolite and too many other crystals to count. Prices ranged anywhere from a dollar to 30 depending on the crystal and its size.
With the initial intention of staying away from these “magic rocks,” I have sadly now became one of the witches. Whether it’s stress relief or self-love, my life has already felt better from this short time of using crystals. Even though I’m early in the process of my crystal awakening, here are some things I’ve discovered.
Stress Relief
Stress is a constant in my life. With school and my ever-changing schedule filled with cheer, choir, swim, SHARE and schoolwork, stress was the first thing that I hoped crystals would help me find a solution for.
Lepidolite, Howlite, Tiger’s Eye and Fluoite are just a few crystals that have helped ease my stress levels.
But if I had to pick out of the four, Tiger’s Eye worked the best. I’ve carried it in my pocket on test days and kept it with me while completing my ever-so-confusing Algebra 2 homework.
So while you’re stressing about that Chemistry test or panicking over your socratic seminar, pop some Howlite in your pocket and feel those stress levels drop.
Soothing Negativity
Constantly being around technology and social media has lead to a lack in my self-confidence, especially in things out of my control. While many things in my life are positive, I often focus on the negatives.
Obsidian, Blue Calcite, Blue Aventurine, Red Jasper and Citrine are helpful with shielding you from the constant negativity that may be around you and improving your self-worth.
These crystals help form a shield from all negativity and help drive away things bringing you down. It draws out stress, helps explore the unknown and improves your inner drive.
While improving your negativity, they’re also extremely helpful for energy healing. They can help draw out any toxic or heavy emotions so you can process them and begin healing.
I felt the strongest and more content with Obsidian by my side. Obsidian has helped me improve my negative energy and turn it into something more positive and productive.
Personal Growth and Motivation
Emerald, Agate, Calcite, Unakite, Amethyst and Fluorite are some of many different crystals that help with personal growth and motivation.
As the school year progresses, it can be difficult to push yourself to finish the mountain of homework you have to complete. Fortunately, these crystals can help you with that.
Almost immediately I felt an attraction to Emerald. Not only is it my birthstone, but it also enhances memory, brings harmony to life and allows you to make good choices.
