Tonight at 7 pm at the 3&2 Baseball Complex, the Lancer baseball team will take on the Cougars of Shawnee Mission Northwest for the second time this season. After losing to Olathe South on Tuesday, the team hopes to bounce back, currently holding a 3-2 record.
Earlier this season, the team lost against the Cougars. According to junior Joey Wentz, the key to winning this game will be getting some early runs.
“We haven’t been hitting the ball well lately so in practice we’ve worked more on our small ball game, like bunts steals, and stuff like that,” Wentz said.
Senior Max Sanborn will be pitching for the Lancers tonight. In practice, Sanborn has been working with his pitching coach, especially on controlling his pitches.
“They have a lot of guys that are capable of hitting home runs, so my pitching coach and I have been working on control of my fastball and curveballs in the dirt so hopefully they swing over the top and miss them,” Sanborn said.
