Band Mattress Sale

The East band will be hosting a mattress sale to raise money for their program in the auxiliary gym from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m on Saturday March 23.

The money made will go towards instrument repair and cleaning. For the event they will be flipping the auxiliary gym into a showroom filled with 28 floor model mattresses from the mattress company Beautyrest. Prices range from $200-$450 with the lowest being a twin bed and the highest a king bed. A portion of the proceeds from each sale will benefit the band.

“Over the past two years that we’ve done this we’ve made over ten thousand dollars, so it’s one of our biggest fundraisers,” sophomore trombone player Ethan Enderle said.

In addition to the instrument repair, the money raised will also help purchase a scaffolding system for marching band. This would allow director Alex Toepfer to get a better view from above to help with formations if the budget allows. They also hope to be able to afford their own truck to bring their equipment to and from band competitions and games.

“We would really like to get our own truck but that’s maybe farther in the future after some more fundraisers,” sophomore clarinet player Mac Muehlberger said.

The money brought in through this fundraiser will allow the band to  better the overall quality of the program. Their goal is to raise over $10,000 in hopes of beating out Shawnee Mission North with last years record of $10000.
