Athlete of the Week: John Arnspiger

Q: So how’s the season going?

A: Our team is very impressive. Tomorrow we compete at league to get a feel for the competition for our journey into the postseason. We have all had plenty of success this year including a plethora of new Personal Records including a new school PR. We are looking forward to battling Lawrence Free State and SM North for a position at state at our regional meet at Haskell Indian College near Lawrence, KS. We are currently tapering the intensity of our workouts in order to kill it at regionals and hopefully at state.

Q: So how do you keep yourself motivated to make it through these long runs?

A: Long runs aren’t hard anymore. We don’t go very fast and when we stay in a pack we just develop some runner’s high and it’s over before you know it.

Q: What has been the most challenging meet this year and why?

A: Rim Rock in Lawrence is tough because of the hills but it’s my favorite course and I will be running there for my eighth time this weekend

Q: So what’s your team’s goal for this Saturday’s race?

A: To race fast and try to win the meet as a team and maybe even set a PR
