With Lancer lacrosse wins under his belt this season, junior Hayden Falley continued his success streak with one goal and four assists against rival Blue Valley Southwest on April 26. The 12-10 win gave the lacrosse team an important boat into overall seed of two in the league.
Why did you decide to start playing lacrosse?
“I started [playing lacrosse] when I was in fourth grade, playing for the Prairie Village Outlaws. But the main reason that I started was because I had an older cousin who played and also coached at Pembroke so he got me into it. And I have just loved it ever since.”
What did the game against Blue Valley Southwest mean to you?
“It’s always a big game and a game that I have circled on the calendar, but after losing to Rockhurst earlier in the year, it made this game super important for seeding at the end of the season. So I knew we had to play well to get the win.”
Does having a former lancer coach on the sideline for the other team give you motivation?
“It for sure adds to the hype of the game, just getting to go onto their home turf and hear him yelling on the sideline makes getting the win that much more fun.”
Do you hope to continue lacrosse after high school?
“I’m starting to think about playing in college and what it looks like to do that so that has kind of become the goal that I hope to work towards.”
What are you going to do over the next year and a half to reach this goal?
“This summer I’m going to play for the club program Midwest Top Gun where I will play in four different tournaments over the summer. So I’m hoping I can improve my skills over the summer and throughout the offseason.”
What are your main goals for the rest of this year’s season?
“My main goals obviously go along with my team and that being to reach the state title and be able to come out victorious and get to raise the trophy with my teammates.”
