What type of art do you enjoy doing the most?
“I like to do a lot of printmaking so all types of print like screen printing, linoleum printing, etching and I also dabble in painting.”
What do you most enjoy about doing art?
“I like the creative freedom to be able to see something I like, then I can incorporate it into what I am working on or use my own take on it to make it into something new that people can enjoy.”
What does art mean to you?
“To me it’s a way to express myself, it really helps me relax and also really helps me set my mind straight if it’s been a crazy time in my life. It’s just a calming way for me to deal with things in my life.”
How much time do you dedicate to doing art?
“A lot. I am in two art classes every semester at school, I work on it outside of school by doing classes and I also used to do summer camps when I was little. I try to do it everyday.
What is the main source of ideas for your art?
“The natural world around me. I also really enjoy drawing TV characters and characters from shows.”
Do you see yourself pursuing art into the future?
“Yeah, I think so. Right now I am trying to figure out if I want to go to a full art school or not. I have always seen myself going into a career in art or design. I just really want it to be a part of my life forever.”
What is your favorite piece you have ever done?
“Right now my favorite piece that I have done was a school project. It was a self portrait with freedom for you to do whatever you want with it. So I did a linoleum print of myself. I took inspiration from a piece my dad did when he was in college that is hanging up in my house. There are different parts of my body that I love so I traced and carved them out on one piece of paper.”
What is your biggest inspiration for art?
“I would say my dad or my grandmother have always pushed me to try new forms of art and it always taught me to use whatever I see or find as an inspiration for something I can incorporate into my pieces.
