Winter Sports Preview

Boys Basketball

The boys’ basketball will be looking to build off of last season, despite losing four key seniors. Graduate Jack Flint started all but one game last season, so the Lancers will be looking to replace him. Senior Alex Glazer will be filling Flint’s shoes as the team’s starting point guard.

“I’m really looking forward to this season,” Glazer said. “Even though we lost some guys, I think we are going to be really tough to beat.”

The Lancers will have seven senior players this year, so the experience is there. The expectations are high for the team, and according to Glazer, they will be able to live up to the expectations.

Bowling

Bowling tryouts begin the day after Thanksgiving break concludes. The team is looking to repeat their state finish last season.

The previous coach of 20 years, Patty Kennedy, retired at the close of last season, so a new coach has been hired for this upcoming season. Along with a new coach, a few new seniors have decided to try-out as well, due to the how laid back the team is.

“I’ve never been on the bowling team,” senior Andrew Stottle said. “I know I can make the team, and lead the lads to a state title.”

Swimming

The boys swim team finished first last season, so the team will be looking to do the same this season. Multiple key seniors graduated last season, like state finisher Patrick Hornung and Spencer Frank.

The team will have around 10 seniors this year, making them tough to beat. Senior Nathan Frank will be a leading force in the team’s swim.

“I know I can lead this team,” Frank said. “I have what it takes to repeat the state championship, and second is not an option.”

Wrestling

The wrestling team is returning multiple seniors who competed at state last year, such as Michael Aldrich and Mike Bamford. With an impressive season last year, a state finish is what’s expected from this team.

“I really think we have what it takes,” Aldrich said. “We did it last year, and I know we can do it again.”

According to Aldrich, the whole team expects another great finish, and they believe they can easily live up to their expectations.
