“Two Steps Ahead”: How Nikocado Avocados’ shocking new weight loss is disingenuous and harmful to viewers

As I scroll through my TikTok For You Page, one person can’t stay off my feed: Nikocado Avocado.

TikTok creators, big and small, were all surprised by his dramatic weight loss, shown in his recent YouTube video titled, “Two Steps Ahead.”

Nicholas Perry, famously known as Nikocado Avocado, gained his massive following through his YouTube mukbang videos, where he would eat large quantities of food and do extreme eating challenges.

Over the past few weeks, his channel has become even more controversial after Perry admitted to losing over 250 pounds while still posting videos of himself before his weight loss.

Although I’ve never been an avid watcher of his channel, I’ve seen a fair share of disturbing clips of Perry. Whether it’s another 20,000-calorie challenge, ordering and eating whole restaurant menus at a time or performing weigh-ins during his videos — it’s disgusting.

Perry’s videos often featured him consuming large piles of extremely spicy noodles, massive portions of fried cheese, and whole seafood platters meant to feed large groups.

Not only would he film himself binging on sizable amounts of over-processed foods, but Perry would also post videos of him crying dramatically and film live reactions to his hate comments.

I never understood how content like this would constantly gain millions of views.

I’ve always seen his content as unhealthy and wasteful, and his weight gain from his content was too disturbing to watch.

Perry claimed in his weightloss reveal video that he is “always two steps ahead,” pointing towards the fact that he tricked his viewers into believing he was still overweight.

After watching this video, I couldn’t help but think about how hypocritical and unhealthy his new weight loss seems to be.

This shows that Perry only provided content that allowed his followers to believe he was gaining weight while actually losing weight.

On his TikTok account, Perry posted only weeks after his weight loss was revealed on his YouTube account, claiming, in his overweight body, that his 250 fat loss had been a hoax.

This seems to be another of Perry’s lies, as he has been spotted and pictured looking like he had lost the weight he claimed to have in his “Two Steps Ahead” video.

It seems as though Perry only lost weight to mock his fan base. He was more intent on making his viewers look stupid for believing he was still maintaining an unhealthy weight instead of using his platform to document a safe and healthy weight loss process. It was a missed opportunity to set a good example for those who spent years watching him partake in a risky, muckbanging lifestyle.
