Tea and Juice Bar Delivers Fresh, Healthy Treats

As I walked into t Loft on a cold, rainy day, I was immediately comforted from the dreary weather outside. The upbeat coffee shop feel made me warm and cozy. But t Loft is no coffee shop. It’s a tea and juice bar, with gluten free snacks and juices that can give you mental and physical boosts.

A quick look inside t Loft reveals a look different to any restaurant or cafe I had ever been to. From the vast amount of very comfortable seating to the upbeat music playing, t Loft makes for a comfortable place to relax and eat with friends, located at 8025 State Line road right next to Culver’s.

First, I ordered the brainberry juice, which has blackberries, strawberries, apples and lemons. The reason it’s called brainberry is that it’s supposed to give you a “mental boost”. Although it took a bit too long to be prepared, it was well worth the wait. I had to stop myself from drinking it too fast, because I wanted to save the sensational juice I was drinking.

Due to the fact there was mostly just snacks to eat, I ordered a variety of things. First, the sweet potato brownie, which offered a unique taste. I wouldn’t think sweet potatoes would be a good mix with brownies, but I was surprised and ended up eating almost the whole thing. The flavor may have been a bit too unique, as it got old with each bite, and eventually didn’t have that same rich flavor as the first few bites.

The next thing I got was a peanut butter cookie, and a peanut butter protein ball. I found both to be very good and scarfed them down quickly. The peanut butter ball left me needing to quench the thirst it had given me. While delicious, I found myself drinking my juice at a much faster pace than before.

The last thing I ordered were the apple nachos, and boy, did I save the best for last. Apple nachos are little apple slices with nutella and caramel drizzled on them, served in a tall cup that will last at least a good 10 minutes. I found the brainberry juice to complement the apple nachos perfectly, and I have absolutely no complaints about them. They are a must-have if you go to t Loft.

Although the food and drink were delicious, t Loft is far from perfect. It isn’t quite ready for customers yet, in the sense that the one worker who was working was not prepared, slow and not quite sure where things were located. There are no plates, cups or knives available for use. It still smells like paint because they opened about a week ago. The service seems like it was meant for a to-go cafe, while the upholstery disagrees, and pulls you in to sit and relax. It’s a balance that makes the visit slightly uncomfortable.

I can’t say I didn’t like it, the food and drink overall were outstanding. The furniture was very comfortable, which made it hard to leave. The worker types your order in on an iPad, which you won’t find many other places. I would go back for sure.

I recommend you go to t Loft- maybe just wait a couple more weeks, and things will get much better. Minor flaws aside, t Loft is a great place to go to enjoy delicious healthy snacks and drinks.
