University of Missouri assistant coach Andy Hill and graduate assistant Mack Brown stopped at East on a recruiting tour. They also made stops at Blue Valley High School and Olathe South.

Junior Quarterback Transfers from Texas to Play Football Under Sherman
Rated as one of the top 100 juniors in the state of Texas by www.texasfootball.com, Shawnee Mission East’s football team has a new quarterback. And although junior Jordan Darling has a new home at East, he has lived a life of a nomad. Having called four different states and two different countries “home,” Platte City is where Jordan learned to play the game that defines his life today.
Coach Sherman Victorious over Lymphoma
For the last seven months head football coach, Coach Chip Sherman has been fighting Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. He underwent chemotherapy, radiation treatment and many other treatments througout the summer and into the fall of last year. On Thursday evening Sherman underwent scans to check his body for the cancer cells. Friday afternoon his test results came back clear, meaning that he had beat the cancer for the now.
