Retrospective on KU March Madness Final

Fans packed Allen Fieldhouse on Monday to watch their Kansas Jayhawks take on the Kentucky Wildcats for the NCAA Mens’ Basketball National Championship. The Jayhawks fell behind early to the more athletic Wildcats. The Wildcats dominated the paint and the boards, taking a 14-point lead into halftime. When the game resumed, the Jayhawks’ struggles continued, gaining little ground on the Wildcats. Just as it was starting to seem as if the Jayhawks couldn’t make yet another comeback, Tyshawn Taylor brought the deficit to within 10 for the first time since early in the second half. With just over 4 minutes left, KU was within range. The Jayhawks had trimmed the Wildcat lead to five with 1:37 left when things slid definitively back into Kentucky’s hands. Ultimately, KU was unable to complete their miraculous comeback and Kentucky took the 2012 National Championship, 67-59.
