For the third year in a row, the Lancer cross country team had a clean sweep at the Topeka West Invitational. After a rough first race at the Greg Wilson Classic, both the girls’ and boys’ teams ferociously struck back on Sept. 12, when they took first in every race according to points, despite being short of runners due to ACT testing. The boys’ varsity team lost four runners, all seniors, because of the college placement test; the girls lost two.
Even on the senior-dominated boys team, the youth has begun to make its presence felt, as juniors Joe Bahr and Chipper Jorns both finished in the top 5 for East. However, the seniors remained a strong presence as Adam Simmons and Mitch Daniel placed second and third respectively, with both running their top times of the season.
