The Shawnee Mission East Choir, a program unrivaled by any other in the school for its massive and grand tendencies, has had it’s share of ups and downs in recent years. After former choir director Tracy Resseguie left in 2007, he took the Blue Moon (a massive talent show hosted in the auditorium, usually sold out), but was succeeded by. Ken Foley, and the program continues to thrive under his direction. The choir has traveled to Ireland, Carnegie Hall, and plans a European tour this Spring Break.
Concert Choir is the preliminary choir for incoming students. No auditions are required, and it is typically the largest choir.
Chansonettes and Varsity choir are the next step up after concert choir.
Choraliers is a combination of junior and senior choir members.
Chamber Choir is a select group 24 students chosen from the entire choir program. Singers must audition to become a part of this choir.Chambers is often booked to sing at small community events, such as retiring homes or church services, and they often travel the halls singing carols during Christmas-time.
