Recap and Gallery: Soccer vs. Olathe East

The boys’ soccer team fell to Olathe East, 2-0, at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.

The Lancers entered the game with a counter-attack formation, trying to use their defense to hang in the game against a strong Olathe East team that’s ranked second in state. The Lancers weren’t able to get much going on offense, only having a few drives up the field. Their defense stayed strong until a Hawks attacker slipped behind the defense and headed it home on a long pass up field. Olathe East went up 1-0 at the end of the half.

In the second half, East came out with a more offensive formation, with multiple forwards in the game. Olathe East went up 2-0 early in the half, with a line-drive shot from the top of the box. The Lancers were never able to answer, losing 2-0 at home.

They’re now 4-3-1 on the season and will be looking for a win against SM South, who just fell to SM Northwest 3-0. They play next Tuesday at the Shawnee Mission Soccer Complex.
