Three Students Win Reflections Contest

This year’s PTA Reflections contest winners are senior Mike Thibodeau for Visual Arts, senior Andrew Hartnett for Photography and junior Bhavish Dinakar for both Music Composition and Literature. They will now move forward to competing at the district level, followed by moving to a state-wide competition. The students learned about the contest through the signs posted around the school, or from entering the contest in past years.

The contest is open to students from elementary school through senior year, and it includes categories such as dance choreography, film production, music composition, literature, photography and visual arts. The theme of this year was “The world would be a better place if…”, and student’s used their preferred media types to translate this message into art.

For Thibodeau, he knew that he wanted to “come up with ideas to merge a little free hand and stencil work with spray paint”, all while incorporating the theme. The same goes for Dinakar, who knew he wanted to enter the contest, and went from there. Hartnett on the other hand took his photos prior to knowing of the contest, and found that they fit well with the theme.
